I want to believe that Mane6 still manage to make that game.
I want to believe that Hasbro aren't going to hunt down fan projects.
I want to believe that Fighting is Magic.
All the hope. Fingers crossed and all that.
Guys from Mane6 - I'm with you. You're awesome no matter what!

So I'm continuing this series.
And... welp! The last time I said that I might gone over the top, this time I'm convinced that I did. And the reason been that there's actually two or three layers of the background that you can not see because of layers above them. And it's all mashed up in one big crazy... thing... that you seeing. And probably no one except me will understand what's going on here. I mean, this scene happens in the library and there is a drawing of the library below all that: floor, walls, bookshelfs. With details and all that stuff. Can you see it? I doubt it. I can only hope that it still looks good.
So, as usual, I'll explain it a bit (this explanation part almost becoming a thing to me):
- Twi fighting Twi (in the library)
- One of them uses level 3 special
- The other one jumps away and blocks, but shock wave still hits her
- Library got terrably distroyed
"What is going on on this picture?"
I feel like this is gonna be the first thing many viewers will think.
All and all I've learned that I need to think through my art harder and better or I will do a lot of work that will not be seen.
But I hope you enjoyed it.

Once again - all hopes for Fighting is Magic. I'm not giving up.

Well, the problem is that Hasbro isn't a villain in that situation. Basically, they were informed about this game by some guy that totally knew what will come out of it. And after they were putted in the situation where they were clearly informed about the game, they had to C&D it or else they could lose their copyright.
So, basically, problem is in US copyright law and that one guy that decided to ruin everything by pointing it out to Hasbro.

I don't see how Hasbro would've lost their copyright from this, the game was non-profit, and Mane6 was being pretty public about their progress (which may have contributed to it's downfall) Also; Why would they let us create fan art, game mods, and even post full episodes onto YouTube but not allow us to make a video game. I do agree though, that US copyright laws are complete nonsense, and most of them are overdue for expiration.

About the last one. Hasbro basically pretending that fan-stuff is not exict. And as long as fan made products arn't getting a lot of publicity they totally can do that. But in case of Mane6 - they were very much publicly acclaimed. And once they were reported, if Hasbro decided to do nothing - that news could spread around (by the efforts of that one guy that pointed at Mane6 in a first place, for instance), and then everyone would when "Oh? What? Hasbro arn't gonna sue as for anything?", and for sure there will be people that would like to make a profit out of it. And there you have a possibility of losing your IP.

I'm not a lawer but as far as I know - in a situation where a company is informed that someone somewhere using their IP without their permission and they decided to do nothing about it - they can lose it. It's not like they instantly lose it but that way there's a hole in their defence, so to speak. And someone later down the line can abuse the fact that they did nothing.
The fact that Mane6 was non-profit and public about their development would not help that much. The only way it would is if MLP was a fair use IP or Hasbro desided to go out of their way and actually support this development. Also non-profit way of doing things is safer in case if Hasbro would found out. In case if they were making money out of it, it could be not C&D but a lawsuit.
As for fan art, mods, plushies and stuff - Hasbro deliberetly closing their eyes on that. And by that I mean - they do not search it.

I have thought allot about what you have said, but I'm still seeing some problems with your argument. First, the selling of pirated copies. Why would someone to buy a poorly made knockoff when they could get the official version for free? Second, the game would have benefited Hasbro in the long run, the game was highly popular amongst the fandom and eventually other people would have been drawn to this game, helping both factions in the process. The brony community would have had grown larger and those new fans would've also eventually bought toys and other merchandise, which would've meant more profit for Hasbro.

This is just awesome epic!!!

Yep, I also don't give up on it.
Since the main complaint of Hasbro was, that the Mane 6 beating the hoofs out of eachother my suggestion would be to add more characters from the beginning and make it impossible to choose two of the Mane 6 as opponents. Changelings, Iron Will, Diamond Dogs. MLP has a nice variety of enemys for the game.
Hasbro also doesn't really hunts them all down. They just want to make sure that noone screws up their license. I personally dont see anything bad in fighting games but since Hasbro doesnt wants that their show is related to violence (even when its cartoony and unbloody) they go against it. In general they even approve fan projects for the simple fact that they get free advertisement through this (Hasbro is smarter than most other companies).
