Worlds in Collision by Yoka-the-Changeling Worlds in Collision by Yoka-the-Changeling
So. Here's my first original piece. Not related to NATG in any way.

upd: I feel like I need to give a credit to this. This ( [link] ) is pretty much an artwork that gave me an idea and the most of the inspiration. At first it should be just a ponification but then Scratch came to play and things got changed significantly.

Many of you probably will disagree with me but I feel like it's more a failure that a success. And before disagreeing let me say a word.

It happened after I finished Vinyl's part (I drew her part first). It was the first time when I got a bit scared of how good it turned out. I was scared because of... well, because of Octavia whose part was yet to be finished. And all the time I worked on it I didn't felt like I know what I'm doing. I wanted it to be a compatible to Vinyl's but there wasn't a good idea how to do it. The idea of this piece is the difference between them but how to make those two different parts to work in one piece? I don't know. And I still don't know.

So, I tryed so hard. And get so fart. But in the end... does it matters? I don't know. Is it good? I don't know. Are those sides equally good and equally good at representation of an inner world of a pony? I don't know.

Vynil's part is really good looking as a whole and I like Octavia's as a separate pieces (grass, water, flowers) but all together it's kind of a mess to me. I don't know.

So, as you can see I have a very mixed feelings about this one. You can say what's your opinion on that in the comments if you feel like it.

upd: Right now (two days after) I'm ok with this piece. It's not a failure but there's definitely things to learn.

I could totally do some epic essay about this thing so instead I will just summarize the basic idea I had.

Classical is water, elemental, plant life and smooth, flowing music.
Dubstep/electronic music is rock, lava, earth and heavy sounds.

Together they can create an entire world of music.

And that is about it for my daily deep thinking of things.

I see what you mean. Perhaps a subtle blue glow behind Octavia's side to bring it together? A hint more of saturation? Or a more silvery glisten to parts of it.

Forgive my ramblings; I tend to kibitz.

That's ok. Thanks anyway :3
Octavia's part is more nightly that's why saturation is low, and also I've tried to keep it opposite to Vinyl's part both in colour and coloring techniques. So this glowy effect and colour reflexes are "belongs to Vinyl" kinda. So, yeah.
About glisten... I probably could add small drops of water here and there (or more likely all over the place). That could be a good idea but I'm done with this piece. Maybe I'll use it in later works.

I think its up to the art appreciators to decide the quality. The artist always believes the worst. And in my opinion, this is beautiful.

I love it. I was actually a little speechless when I first saw it. I do think Octavia's side is a little busier than Vinyl's and I'm a little perplexed about the meaning behind the wings, though I guess their a nice compliment to the cliffs behind Vinyl. I still love the contrast between the two overall, as there's a great insight into their character.

I think this is fantastic! There are lots of intricate details in the backgrounds and the contrast between the two sides is wonderful. I especially love the bright, brassy colors on Vinyl's side and the cooler, earthier tones on Octavia's. Even if you do feel like it was a failure, I love it! <3

Right now I'm kinda ok with it. Overall it's not a failure but I still seeing my mistakes and things that could be done differently. But it's one of those cases whem work can not be finished, I just can stop working on it. And I'm glad that what was done is enough to get this kind of response.

Reminds me of an old Disney short, whereupon I saw two islands, one whose citizens were stringed instruments (anthropomorphed) and the other whose citizens were jazz instruments. And it became a whole Romeo and Juliet kind of thing.
